As thousands of amateur and professional runners compete in Boston on 18 April 2016 at the world’s oldest annual marathon, ‘Spenco Medical Corporation plans to comfort them every step of the way’. At this year’s Boston Marathon, the foot care company will offer products on-site with the aim of helping athletes achieve their best performance. Spenco will serve as a presenting sponsor of the event’s educational series.

The Runner’s World Seminar Series Presented by Spenco takes place on 16-17 April, preceding the big event on 18 April. This free series, held at the Hynes Convention Center, offers educational and inspirational content for runners. Fifteen sessions will feature topics and speakers including: Olympic Gold Medalist Billy Mills, First Ladies of Running, and How to Run Your Best Boston Marathon.

“The Boston Marathon is the Holy Grail of marathons for serious runners, and we want to help these athletes compete at their best,” said Bill Reifsnyder, two-time US National Marathon Champion and Spenco Marketing Consultant.

“With our sponsorship, we’re also hoping to earn more Spenco disciples in the running community, a market in which we’ve excelled.”

Spenco is a leading producer of premium insoles, recovery footwear and foot care products using advanced materials. The technology behind its products aims to help increase performance and stability while offering lasting comfort and relief. The company expects its 2nd Skin line of first aid products, including the popular Blister Kit, to be in demand from its booth (#617) in the expo hall at the convention center on Saturday and Sunday.

Drawing from on-site entries at the Spenco or Runner’s World booths, Spenco will give away pairs of recovery sandals every hour during the Saturday expo, and during both days at the seminar.

Spenco and Jaybird, the sports electronics company, will also host a Shakeout Run for marathon runners at 08:00 on Saturday 16 April. Runners meet in the Fairfax Room at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. The first 50 participants will receive a Spenco technical running shirt. The company’s new memory foam recovery sandal will also be available for fitting.

Considered one of the world’s best-known marathons, the Boston Marathon attracts 500,000 spectators each year. Though starting with 18 participants in 1897, the event now attracts an average of 30,000 registered participants each year, with 30,251 people entering in 2015.
