Based in San Diego, California, Triathlete is looking for a senior editor to help run its industry-leading media operations. The ideal candidate will have ‘good to great knowledge of triathlon, especially training and gear’. Triathlete publisher Competitor Group adds that ‘They’ll also be a media pro with excellent editing skills who can switch easily between print and digital, and who has deep knowledge of digital content strategy.’
Responsibilities:
- Create original content in a variety of formats (features, news items, reviews, blog posts, and on camera in video posts)
- Edit and copyedit content from both staff and freelancers
- Conceive and assign stories to freelancers
- Work closely with editor in chief and other staffers on editorial planning
- Maintain exceptional knowledge of triathlon gear and technology
- Manage a thorough gear and bike testing process, including maintaining working relationships with brands in the space, receiving product, coordinating testing, and working with the art department for product shoots.
- Represent Triathlete at races, events, and industry trade shows
- Be able to manage and adhere to a detailed content calendar
- Be able to speak to – and help shape – major and emerging trends in the triathlon space
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or advanced degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum five years in an editorial position or equivalent
- Deep knowledge of, and affinity for, triathlon gear and training
- High-level knowledge of grammar and style
- Experience with WordPress or a similar CMS
