The triathlon industry is being asked to get behind Alistair Brownlee, who has been nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year – which will be on UK television this Sunday. Alistair Brownlee is the first triathlete ever to be shortlisted. By getting behind him, the triathlon industry can directly help increase voting and the profile of triathlon on Sunday 18 December.
Voting takes place on the night of the awards only, and can be done online or over the phone. To vote online individuals will need to register, which can be done right now! Triathlon companies can visit the BBC SPOTY website to register and encourage their databases of contacts to do the same.

Adding to the recognition that every vote will make a difference, Jonathan Brownlee is amongst those calling for the triathlon community to back Alistair Brownlee at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards this Sunday.
Voting can be completed online or over the phone on Sunday night. To vote online, individuals will need to register via the BBC.
The BBC show will start at 18:40 GMT on Sunday evening on BBC One. There are sixteen contenders for the prestigious award, with tennis star Andy Murray considered to be the front-runner.
Alistair Brownlee’s nomination comes in recognition of seven years at the top of the sport, his Rio and London Olympic gold medals, and, of course, that incredible moment in Cozumel, Mexico, where he helped his exhausted brother over the line at the ITU World Championships.
Jonathan Brownlee said “I’m really pleased for Alistair, he’s always been a big fan of the BBC Sports Personality Awards. I hope people will get behind him and vote.”
