Hundreds of people lined the streets in Hull to witness the city’s 2017 Yorkshire Water Triathlon last Sunday. The event was organised by local club Humber Triathletes and sponsored by Yorkshire Water, which is one of the principal partners for Hull 2017. (Hull in North East England is the UK’s City of Culture 2017, with the location promoting arts and culture and a diverse range of activities.)
In total, over 160 people took part in the sprint distance race which started in Princes Quay where participants took part in a 750m swim followed by a 18km bike ride and 5km run through the city’s streets.
It was just the city’s second official triathlon following the first, which was originally hosted in 2015.
Neil Thompson of Humber Triathletes said “I am so proud to be a member of Humber Triathletes. This event has taken months of planning and came together like clockwork on race day. We as a club couldn’t have done it without the help and support from everybody in the city and our sponsors. Hull finally has a city centre triathlon to be proud of.”
