Entries are closing on Saturday 13 May for both the Big East Triathlon & Tour of the Dengie – organised by Essex based event organiser Dengie Events. Now in its seventh year, Dengie Events has put together a schedule of Essex based triathlons and cycle rides for UK endurance athletes in 2017. The event organiser adds that there is a race to cater for beginners and pros alike. The Big East Triathlon and Tour of the Dengie take place on 21 May 2017 in Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex.
Big East Triathlon
Situated in the small hamlet of Bradwell-on-Sea on the Dengie Peninsular, the Big East Triathlon has been selected as the Triathlon England Eastern Region Middle Distance Championship in 2017. The event consists of an 800m or 1.6km swim in the River Blackwater, a 43km/82km cycle in the Essex countryside and finishes with a 10km/20km lapped run based around Bradwell, the sea wall and marshes passing the historic St Peters Chapel.
Tour of the Dengie
The Tour of the Dengie will set off from the same location as the Big East Triathlon and will see all athletes negotiating the Burnham Bends and passing through the small scenic towns and villages with traditional weatherboard homes. The cycle offers a unique and varied course over the Dengie marshes. Facilities include an on-course bike mechanic, post-race massages, bag storage, changing rooms, luxury toilets, chip timing and aid stations.
