Powerbreather vents latest snorkel offerings

Ameo Powerbreather

The latest addition to Ameo Sports’ Powerbreather range aims to make breathing through a snorkel ‘easier than ever before and take swimming – whether that be competitively or recreationally – to a whole new level of ease and enjoyment’.

The Powerbreather, used and recommended by Ironman world record holder, Jan Frodeno, now comes complete with a customisable Speed Vent system. Users of the device can choose between three different levels of breathing resistance using three different Speed Vents.

Originally unveiled in the summer of 2015 and rolled out in 2016, the Powerbreather snorkel has been expanding throughout Europe and beyond. Internal membranes inside the Powerbreather Speed Vents let fresh air and oxygen into a swimmer’s lungs, without water getting in. Ameo Sports, the company behind the Powerbreather brand, note that you then ‘relax, keep your body level, and power ahead, swimming freestyle, butterfly or breast stroke.’

A separate one-way valve mouthpiece cleverly vents exhaled stale air out underwater, never mixing fresh with stale air.

Powerbreather devices now offer three different levels of breathing resistance using three different Speed Vents. Most swimmers will likely choose the Sport model (£70), or the Lap (£80) for fast flip turns, while the Wave (£100) is for choppy open water.

Speed Vent upgrades are optional, ordered with the snorkel or later as an accessory. Speed Vents Easy, Medium & Power signify different membranes, for progressively enhanced breathing resistance. The company continues… ‘The more resistance the more effort required. The more effort, the stronger your lungs, and the greater your stamina and endurance.’
