IRONMAN, a Wanda Sports Holdings company, has today announced the return of the IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast triathlon to the heart of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast on Mooloolaba Beach, Australia. After hosting the 2016 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, this race course returns for age-group athletes, and will take place on Sunday 10 September 2017.
With a location just steps from the beach, and a surfside transition and finish, Mooloolaba Beach offers the ‘perfect year-round climate and relaxing atmosphere for an ideal race destination’. Athletes will tackle a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) ocean swim off Mooloolaba Beach, followed by a flat and fast 56-mile (90 km) bike course, highlighting the region from country to coast. Athletes will then complete a 13.1-mile (21 km), spectator-lined run course on the Mooloolaba Esplanade along striking shores before reaching the finish in the heart of Mooloolaba – all of which must be completed before an eight-and-a-half hour cut-off time.
IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast will offer 30 slots to the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship taking place on Saturday 1 September and Sunday 2 September 2018 in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa.
General registration for IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast opened today, 9 February 2017.
