REV3 hits the trails with Capital Trail 100 Relay

REV3 Capital Trail 100

Expanding its remit to include trail running, Revolution3 Triathlon (REV3) has confirmed The Capital Trail 100 Relay, held on 7 October 2017. The race will help celebrate the second anniversary of the Virginia Capital Trail and will allow groups of 4-6 runners to cover 100 miles between Richmond and Williamsburg, Virginia. The event is positioned as a ‘fun, challenging and great way to make memories with friends, family or co-workers’.

According to the company, ‘the inaugural REV3 relay run will be just the first of others that will follow in the coming years.’

“The Virginia Capital Trail, a dedicated paved pedestrian and bicycle trail, is the perfect course for this event allowing runners to safely run off of main roads on well maintained surfaces,” said REV3 National Race Director and Richmond resident Jay Peluso.

Runners will tag-team the distance, relay style. Each team member runs 3 legs, which range in distance from 3.5 to 8.5 miles each. The race starts and finishes in Richmond, and exchange zones will be located along the Capital Trail. A post-race party will commence with the first finishers and go until the final finishers cross the line.

“We could not be more excited about our partnership with REV3. An event like this on the Trails’ 2nd anniversary weekend is an awesome way to celebrate,” says Beth Weisbrod, Executive Director of the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation. “The race will finish at our Anniversary Party venue, which will be a blast for runners and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation. This is a total win-win and we look forward to a weekend of fun!”
