Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles takes off with United Airlines

Rock n Roll Los Angeles Names United Airlines Title Sponsor

Competitor Group (CGI), operator of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, has today announced an expanded relationship with United Airlines as the new title sponsor of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles Half Marathon. The Halloween themed event, famous for thousands of runners dressed in costume, will welcome more than 15,000 participants to the streets of downtown Los Angeles on the weekend of 28-29 October 2017.

“United has proudly served Los Angeles for more than half a century, and we continue to invest in and revamp our facilities at LAX [airport] to ensure our presence is just as impressive as LA.,” said Mike Hanna Vice President of San Francisco and LA for United. “Sponsoring the Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles Half Marathon is another example of our dedication to this city, and we look forward to welcoming runners, fans and visitors from around the world to this event.”

The Los Angeles sponsorship follows the recent announcement that United Airlines will also serve as the new title sponsor of upcoming Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events in Washington DC and San Francisco beginning in March 2017. Each event takes runners on a tour of iconic landmarks, featuring entertainment along the course and culminating with a finish line celebration and concert.

“The Los Angeles race sponsorship with United Airlines is very exciting given their focus on supporting the Southern California community,” said Josh Furlow, President of CGI. “Both of our teams have hit the ground running for our upcoming events in Washington DC and San Francisco, working to collaborate on ways we can make the participant experiences with us the very best they can be.”

Launched in 1998 in San Diego, California, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series is famous for lining race routes with live bands and fanfare at 30 destination events worldwide. The Los Angeles race annually attracts more than 15,000 runners and will celebrate its eighth edition in 2017 with additional 5K and half-marathon races.

The weekend kicks off with a two-day Health & Fitness Expo on Friday 27 October and Saturday 28th. The free expo is open to the public and will showcase the latest in running products, services and free samples from fitness experts as all registered runners pick up their race number, t-shirt and timing tag.
