SCOTT Sports has partnered up with Carbitex to engineer a new generation of high-end shoes with the claim to be the ‘best stiffness-to-weight ratio on the market’. The new shoes were designed to equip both road and mountain bikers ‘who don’t want to compromise on weight, comfort, or stiffness’.
SCOTT notes that stiffness, minimal weight and comfort have always been the most important criteria of a race-ready cycling shoe. The company continues…
‘Zero loss, simply put, means that all the power you put into a pedal stroke gets transferred to the bike through the piece of gear that unites you with your bike – your shoes. Not losing any of that power is paramount to any cyclist winning a race, crushing a personal best or being crowned KOM. SCOTT’s new high-end carbon racing shoes have been relentlessly refined and infused with space aged fabrics to ensure that power loss will forever be a dirty phrase of yesterday.’
Working with Carbitex – an innovation in footwear upper textile construction – SCOTT has launched four distinctive models, two each for MTB and road cycling. According to the company, Carbitex allows for extremely lightweight, stiff yet highly conforming footwear designs. The carbon fibre used has the ‘highest tensile strength of any commercially available fibre allowing for ultimate power transfer’.
SCOTT adds that the fibre, unlike conventional cycling shoe uppers, has virtually zero elongation. ‘Carbitex CX6 carbon composite harnesses these key stiffness characteristics in a flexible form enabling a glove-like fit.’ Moreover, the entire line-up features stiff HMX carbon outsoles, reaching a claimed highest stiffness index (10/10) currently available on the market.
Converging highly functional technologies, SCOTT adds that its industry-leading footwear range is a ‘testament to our unrelenting pursuit to deliver truly outstanding products’.

SCOTT’s two MTB Olympic Champions Nino Schurter and Jenny Rissveds have both ridden the MTB RC Ultimate to victories this past season with Schurter winning six World Cup races plus the World Championships.
“The lightweight MTB RC shoes are easily the stiffest shoes I have ever ridden,” said Nino Schurter, Olympic, World & World Cup Champion, SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing Team. “They allow for ultimate power transfer due to the carbon that is worked into the upper construction and the outsole of the shoe, but are still extremely comfortable with zero pressure points – even on long days like at the Cape Epic.”
