XTERRA Blackwater, with competitors representing 20 US states plus travelling athletes from Puerto Rico, has sold out for the third year in a row. The race is scheduled for 1 April 2017 at Blackwater River State Forest in Milton, Florida, and is second in the 50 race, 30 state 2017 XTERRA America Tour.
XTERRA notes that 20% of registered athletes are first-timers to the sport. XTERRA Blackwater headlines the weekend long Blackwater Multisport Festival, which also includes the Bear Lake Off-road Super Sprint and XTERRA 21K and 6.5K Trail Runs. Entries for these events are still available.
The man behind Florida panhandle’s XTERRA is Ben Dillon, a 10-year Navy veteran who has 30 XTERRA race finishes to his credit. “It is a great privilege to have the opportunity to produce XTERRAs,” said Dillon. “My passion for many years was racing on the XTERRA circuit around the globe. Now that passion extends to multi-sport event production… and to be able to put this together so that others have an opportunity to enjoy what I have experienced is priceless!”
