For the second time, the city of Cape Town will have the prestige of hosting the first race of a new ITU World Cup season this coming weekend, on 11 February, with all of the athletes looking to make the strongest possible start to this year’s 17-stop worldwide tour.
The city made its debut on the World Cup circuit last year in grand style; the iconic Table Mountain lending a dramatic backdrop to some fast & furious sprint racing that saw the crowds cheer on their local heroes to success. On Sunday afternoon, the athletes will come together for 2018’s eagerly awaited sprint opener.

Elite Women – Sunday 11 February, 14:15 local time
EliteMen – Sunday 11 February, 16:15 local time
Prize money: US$60,000 (equal for men & women)
Swim – The swim comprises of one lap of 750m, beginning and ending in Quay 6 in the V&A Waterfront
Bike – The cycle comprises of one lap of 4.8km followed by four laps of 3.8km
Run – The run comprises of two laps of 2.5km ending on the Stadium Forecourt
