Course changes at expanding Challenge Riccione 2019

Taking place on May 4-5, 2019, Challenge Riccione is back next year and aiming to be the ‘centre of international triathlon’. The event was originally launched at the end of 2017, replacing Challenge Rimini in Italy.

On Monday October 15, at 10:00 CEST, registration opened – with the first 300 places available for a special launch price of €175.

The race will be organized in close cooperation between Challenge Family and local organising team at Triathlon/Duathlon Rimini… ‘guaranteeing high quality technical management and excellent execution’.

Alessandro Alessandri will remain as Race Director and has announced some changes to the 2019 edition of the event in northern Italy. He said, “The cycling route will vary substantially from the one of the previous edition but will still have the same technical characteristics that have made it such a success over the years.

“Continuous variations in the gradients of the climbs of the bike section, fluidity in the run section, spectacular routes and all the hospitality of Romagna will remain our strong points. The start and finish will be, as was the case this year, in Riccione Terme, along with all the logistics of the race. We are also studying changes to the run course which we will be revealed as soon as they are defined and detailed.”

The long weekend in Riccione in May 2019 will have an expanded agenda of a number of other races, in addition to the long distance event.

  • The Family Run will give everyone an opportunity to take an active part in the event, starting on Friday evening before the competitive races.
  • The new Swim-Bike is now included in the schedule, after becoming part of the World and European Multisport Championships, with a 1900m swim followed by a 90km cycle course.
  • Traditionally, the Triathlon Sprint and Youth Duathlon will complete the weekend’s program.

The organisers add… ‘An extremely rich menu that aims to see athletes, support teams and the public participate fully in Riccione and will guarantee a continuity of the event over years to come and a secure a future aimed at international growth.’
