We caught up with Mel Berry, Chair of the Triathlon Industry Association (TIA) at the recent Triathlon Show: London / London Bike Show. Mel spoke about footfall at the show, TIA’s research into the triathlon marketplace, from its industry confidence study at the end of 2017 through to its current research into athletes’ participation, expenditure and demographics.
Mel also outlined how the association has worked collectively and collaboratively to address challenges in the marketplace. There is also some discussion on issues for events, as well as the importance of coaches, and the industry’s collaboration with the national governing body, British Triathlon.
We then headed off for a beer!
