The TOUGHKids triathlon series (part of the TOUGHMAN Half Iron Triathlon Series, and currently with races and a championship event in the US) has unveiled its first international TOUGHKids race, TOUGHKids Chile, which will take place in Arica, Chile, in 2019.

This is the first expansion of TOUGHKids brand internationally and ‘marks the beginning of expansion of TOUGHKids outside of the US to many more locations.’ Each race is a qualifier for the TOUGHKids NY Championship.

The TOUGHKids triathlon series has youth aged 4-18 racing, with different distances based upon age. The organising team add that ‘These are all outdoor triathlons that have kids racing open water where they can experience the same things their parents do while racing a triathlon.’

TOUGHKids races are generally held on the same weekend as a TOUGHMAN half triathlon so that everyone in the family can be part of the action. To date over 6,000 kids have raced TOUGHKids events.

Athletes that qualify for the TOUGHKids NY Championship will be treated to: a closed bike course, custom race bib, finisher shirt and medal, DJ and announcer, post-race food and bouncy house on race day. This is positioned as ‘a great racecation for families looking to visit NYC’.

The TOUGHMAN Series currently consists of 15 races in the US and other parts of the world, with current events in Futrono, Chile; Paulinia, Brazil; San Pedro, Argentina; Arica, Chile; Quillon, Chile; Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; and stateside events in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Utah, South Carolina and Tennessee.

The TOUGHMAN Series Championship in Stony Point, New York, just 20 miles north of New York city, offers over US$30,000 in age-group awards, a US$4,950 cash purse (top 5) for qualifiers, a scenic bike course, and over 1,400 race support volunteers.
