Human Food kicks off with Kickstarter

Human Food nutrition brand

A new, all-natural meal replacement bar called Human Food is targeting sportspeople and nutrition experts, with a Kickstarter campaign to fuel the launch of the bars. The Human Food range is designed to ‘support sports training, vegan and vegetarian diets and demanding lifestyles.’

A West Wales-based workers’ cooperative, Human Food was founded by Ky Wright following four years of research and development. He was assisted by health and nutrition specialists, including Dan Reid – author of The Tao of Detox and The Tao of Health, Sex and Longevity.

Starting out by making smoothies, Wright then developed the bars as a way to ‘pack all the goodness of his best smoothie recipes into a delicious and satisfying take-anywhere daily nutrition bar.’

Taking a slow-build launch approach, Ky Wright said “The first intake is limited to 2000 subscribers, with intake increasing every 3 to 6 months. This is to ensure we grow at a steady rate without any risk to standards.”

Dan Reid has since endorsed the bars, saying “Humans need food that promotes and protects their health, but they also want their food to taste good. Human Food meets both demands: it’s nutritious as well as delicious, giving you what you need and what you want with every bite.”

The Human Food bars come in three flavours – Yellow (Turmeric Curcumin); Red (Extra Antioxidants) and Green (Spirulina). For a Kickstarter pledge of £49 or more they will receive one month’s subscription to Human Food with one week free. This includes:

20 bars of Human Food (Red, Green or Yellow)
T-shirt (Hand printed in one colour DayGlo on 100% organic cotton)
Human Food Booklet (in chosen colour)
One month’s free delivery

“We only use the best organic ingredients (no peanuts or raisins), but Human Food costs less than than buying the ingredients on the high street,” continued Wright. “As well as being the most cost-efficient way to provide yourself with a complete, organic, vegan diet, subscribers are connected to a Human Food community via free events such as yoga and ‘feedback and development’ meetups.”

Human Food is billed as the world’s first organic daily nutrition bar containing at least 50% of the recommended intake of essential vitamins and nutrients that can be difficult to obtain from a plant based diet, including: vitamin B12, iron and Omega 3. Each bar also contains over 12g of protein, plus functional ingredients such as Ginseng, Maca and Cacao.

Human Food notes that its products are made of 100% natural ingredients, fortified only with complex vitamins and minerals derived from organic whole foods. The company adds that, ‘unlike other meal replacements, Human Food contains no grains, no added sugar or sweeteners and no artificial flavouring… The only flavour comes from over 40 organic wholefoods selected and balanced for optimal taste and bio-availability.’

Human Food claims that one bar is filling enough to replace any meal, but is recommended to be consumed in the first half of the day to allow time for body to absorb nutrients.

Human Food will be available by online subscription only via its own website.
