The International Triathlon Union (ITU) has announced the start of the 2018 paratriathlon classification opportunities for athletes. The international governing body notes that all paratri athletes who are not on the ITU Classification Master List will need to undergo classification to be able to compete at ITU events.
The first opportunity for classification will be at the St Kilda OTU Paratriathlon Continental Championships, in Australia, on 13 January 2018, with more events following throughout the year.
Additional opportunities for physical impairments will be added as soon as these are confirmed with the LOCs (local organising committees). For the ATU and ASTC Continental Championships this will depend on the number of athletes entered for competition.
ITU will confirm at a later stage the VI classification opportunities in Europe and North America.
