The Tenerife Blue Trail is airing on UK television via Channel 4 on Saturday 18 August at 06:05 BST, Ch4+1 at 07:05 and with online catch-up available on All 4.
‘Running up to the roof of Spain’, this 97km ultra run climbs from the Atlantic coast to the summit of Mount Teide, the highest mountain in Spain and the third highest volcano in the world. Starting at midnight and with just 23 hours to complete this epic journey, competitors must climb a total of 5000m and cross the beautiful but treacherous volcanic landscape of Tenerife.
Produced by Kikazaru Media, working with Dream Team Television, the TV highlights show on Channel 4 with showcase the landscape and athletes on the Spanish Canary Island. Offering up one of trail running’s classic routes and ultimate challenges, from sea to summit, then back to the sea for the finish, the event presents a test of endurance, tactics and mental strength.
