The USA Triathlon Youth Splash & Dash Presented by SafeSplash Swim School will return to Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs on Sunday, August 19, at 08:30 MT – marking the seventh consecutive year of the event.
The Colorado Springs stop is part of the nationwide USA Triathlon Youth Splash & Dash Aquathlon Series, which features more than 55 events this year. The series highlights the fast-growing discipline of aquathlon, which combines swimming and running. The course at Cheyenne Mountain Resort features a swim in the resort’s scenic outdoor pool in the shadows of Pikes Peak and a run on a closed, paved path that encircles the resort’s lake, Curr Reservoir.
Participants aged 7-10 will complete a 100m swim and a 1K run; while athletes aged 11-15 will cover a 200m swim and a 2K run. The event’s focus is on participation rather than competition, and the races will not be timed.
The cost to participate is US$10 for USA Triathlon youth annual members and US$20 for non-members, which includes the cost of a youth annual membership. Online registration closes on Saturday, August 18 at 18:00 MT, and race-day registration will be available onsite from 07:00-8:15.
All participants will receive a medal upon crossing the finish line, as well as an official USA Triathlon Youth Splash & Dash Aquathlon Series t-shirt. Athletes can also enjoy a post-race barbecue provided by Cheyenne Mountain Resort.
SafeSplash Swim School, the race’s presenting sponsor, is offering a free clinic open to all registered Splash & Dash participants at the SafeSplash Swim School located at 13171 Bass Pro Drive (across from Bass Pro Shop) on Saturday, August 18 from 15:30-17:00. Clinic attendees receive instruction on basic swim techniques and water safety from SafeSplash’s experienced swim professionals.
Existing members of SafeSplash Swim School can access a US$10 discount on race registration.
In addition, the Country Club of Colorado is offering a guest pass rate for registered athletes and their families from now until race day. Families of up to four can receive a full one-day pass for US$50, which includes access to all aquatic and fitness center facilities for each family member. Existing members of the Country Club of Colorado are also eligible for a US$10 race discount.
USA Triathlon Youth Splash & Dash Aquathlon series partners include the USA Swimming Foundation, the Boy Scouts of America, Girls on the Run and the USA Triathlon Foundation.
