With less than a month to go before the Challenge Peguera-Mallorca middle distance triathlon in Spain takes place, registrations for the third consecutive year are sold out. In a release, the organising team notes that… ‘With not a single one of the 1100 places left, the popularity of the event and it’s consolidation as one of the best end of season triathlons in Europe has been confirmed.’
The event takes place on 19 October 2019, and the organisers add that ‘Challenge Peguera-Mallorca will welcome a large number of international triathletes gathering in Calvià, in pursuit of a double goal; to close the 2019 triathlon season with a high quality event and at the same time, spend a few days holiday on the sunny island of Mallorca.’
Triathletes from countries including Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, New Zealand, Italy, Brazil, Slovakia, and Japan will take part in Challenge Peguera-Mallorca 2019. In total, 37 different nationalities will be competing in the event, where 87% of athletes are non-Spanish. Of these, around 27% are German and 26% are British.
There are a wide range of activities and side events planned around the main race. Parallel activities include a special Challenge race for children, parties, ‘Nit de Foc’ (Night of Fire celebrations), concerts, markets and ‘other surprises’, to ensure that triathletes and their friends and families make the most of their stay.
