The historic coastal town of Cambridge, Maryland, provided the backdrop for athletes from around the world at the 2019 IRONMAN Maryland triathlon. Quinten De Vos (Knokke-Heist, Belgium) and Meghan Fillnow (Charlotte, NC) prevailed on the day, taking the top honours with finish times of 8:46:35 and 9:37:23, respectively.

The 2019 IRONMAN Maryland saw over 1,800 athletes representing 32 countries, regions and territories plus 66 US states start the race. One of more than 40 events in the global IRONMAN Series – athletes took on a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run throughout Cambridge and its surrounding areas.

The event offered 40 coveted age-group qualifying slots to the 2020 IRONMAN World Championship, taking place in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i.

Only days earlier, the city of Cambridge honoured IRONMAN Maryland and IRONMAN 70.3 Eagleman’s long-time race director, the late Gerry Boyle by renaming a city park Gerry Boyle Park at Great Marsh on Monday, September 23. The 2019 IRONMAN Maryland marked the first time the event was held in the newly dedicated park since Boyle’s passing.
