Specialist direct-to-consumer bike brand A2 (‘A-Squared’) has unveiled its newest product addition – the Road Phreak. This is its first road bike offering, having previously specialised in time trial/triathlon with the Speed Phreak bike.
In a release, the company highlighted… ‘Sleek design, cutting edge aero technology, sick paint job – everything you’ve come to expect from the Speed Phreak has now been passed down to our first road bike… N+1 now officially equals RP.’
The Road Phreak, also known as the RP, features all internal cable routing for a clean and aerodynamic design. This is matched with a fully integrated handlebar design. The RP comes standard with disc brakes.
A-Squared was founded with accessibility and affordability in mind, and the RP aims to continue that tradition. The RP1 outfitted with SRAM Rival components starts at US$2000 (or US$125/mo with Affirm instalment payments).
The RP1 is the brand’s entry-level road bike, but A-Squared argues that it doesn’t have an entry-level feel…

The RP3e is the Road Phreak’s top-of-the-line road bike. This takes all the elements of the next in line RP2e but upgrades components to SRAM RED AXS eTap. The RP3e starts at US$4,999 or US$139/mo with Affirm.
All of the company’s bikes are sold direct-to-consumer via its website. The RP will be sold on a limited run in December 2020 with full production launching in February 2021. A-Squared is suggesting a US$150 non-refundable down-payment for customers to reserve their preferred size/build for the February shipment.
A2 (‘A-Squared’) was founded in 2016 by AJ Alley, a newbie triathlete in search of an affordable tri bike. The company’s first bike, the Speed Phreak, was launched in 2018. Triathlete.com’s Best Tri Bikes of 2020 said ‘it’s a great way for a beginner or intermediate triathlete to get into something carbon for $3k or under – which is virtually non-existent right now.’
