Two key IRONMAN races in Canada this August are the latest to suffer a set-back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The organising teams at IRONMAN Canada – Penticton and IRONMAN 70.3 Victoria have been forced to cancel this year’s events.
Based on a mandate from the Province of British Columbia in Canada, in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, IRONMAN Canada – Penticton, which was originally scheduled for August 30 cannot take place in 2020. The IRONMAN team is working on all potential options; and further event updates will be communicated as soon as possible. Athletes that are registered for the race will receive an email with further details.
After assessing all event scenarios, the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 Victoria triathlon cannot take place on its rescheduled date of August 9, 2020. It will now return on May 30, 2021. All registered athletes will be receiving an email with further information.
IRONMAN adds that ‘In what has been a continually evolving and challenging time globally, we recognize that this may come as a disappointment but look forward to providing athletes with an exceptional race experience in the future.’
