On December 13th-15th, 2019, Challenge Daytona presented its second annual Challenge Daytona Festival at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida. The event included a packed professional field with over 50 of the world’s top triathletes who competed in Daytona Distance Under the Lights.
This year, Challenge Daytona is inviting passionate multisport athletes from around the world to apply for the 2020 Challenge Daytona Ambassador Team. The individuals selected will ‘serve as emissaries and educators for the Challenge Daytona Triathlon Festival, slated for December 2nd-4th, 2020.’
“Our ambassadors are our eyes, ears and voice throughout multisport communities across the globe,” said Challenge North America President, Bill Christy. “They serve to encourage others to lead active lifestyles and lead by example.
“They raise awareness to the benefits of leading healthy lifestyles, while demonstrating the Challenge Family culture. Further, they showcase the fellowship that comes along with racing, particularly at an iconic venue like Daytona International Speedway.”
Ambassadors will receive a variety of benefits which include:
- One free entry into the 2020 Challenge Daytona race
- Free triathlon kit, running shirt and additional swag
- Free Hotlaps ride… Ride shotgun in an official pace car around Daytona International Speedway
- Social media exposure on Challenge Daytona and Challenge USA social sites
- Invitation to ambassador only events
- Race weekend perks
Applications for the 2020 Challenge Daytona Ambassador Team open from February 1, 2020 until February 20, 2020. Applicants are asked to submit video and written components that ‘creatively convey their desire to serve as event ambassadors.’ Detailed requirements and information are available online on the event website from February 1, 2020.
A variety of events are offered at Challenge Daytona – including Sprint and Middle Distance Triathlons, the Junior Challenge kids’ race, Relay categories, Duathlon and Aquabike events, Sprint Special Needs, ‘Daytona Distance Under the Lights’ for pro athletes, Pro Am Race and 5K/10K run/walk events.
The top six male and female finishers in each Middle-Distance Triathlon age group at next year’s event will qualify for entry in The Championship, to be held in May 2021 at the x-bionic sphere sports resort in Samorin, Slovakia.
