Race weekend activities for both the 2020 Visit Panama City Beach IRONMAN Florida & Visit Panama City Beach IRONMAN 70.3 Gulf Coast triathlons got under way on Wednesday, November 4 with athlete check-in at Aaron Bessant Park.
Both races are scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 7 beginning beachside along the Russell-Fields Pier.
IRONMAN has developed a series of ‘Safe Return to Racing’ operating principles prepared in accordance with industry standards for open air participation sporting events.
‘These operating principles have been designed to allow for events like the 2020 Visit Panama City Beach IRONMAN Florida & Visit Panama City Beach IRONMAN 70.3 Gulf Coast to be organized in a manner consistent with local community objectives and expectations set by public health entities as it relates to contagion risk mitigation of COVID-19.’
IRONAID Food Drive
The IRONMAN Foundation will return to the Panama City Beach on Saturday, November 7, 2020, to support its TEAM IMF Athletes and to host an IRONAID Food Drive.
Event participants and supporters are asked to make donations of non-perishable food items at the IRONMAN Village. All food items collected will be donated to Rebuild Bay County to provide meals to members of the Greater Panama City Beach community suffering from food insecurity.
Additionally, the IRONMAN Foundation is distributing over US$63,000 in charitable giveback to local organizations within the Panama City Beach region, bringing its total regional giveback to over US$1.1 million.
The support includes a grant to Panama City Beach Fire Rescue for two rescue sleds, furthering the organization’s mission to provide fire protection, rescue, medical and beach safety first response to residents and visitors of Panama City Beach.
