Flipper Triathlon team and Sport For You have confirmed the launch of the new eagleXman extreme triathlon in Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso, Central Italy.
Scheduled to take place on July 31, 2021, the new long distance event (3.8K swim, 180K bike and 42K run) includes a total elevation of over 6,000m.
The organising team points out that the event will offer a ‘unique triathlon experience within the beautiful and enchanted landscape of the national Parks Gran Sasso and Laga.’
The race start is set at dawn CET on 31 July 2021 from Lake Campotosto. It finishes at altitude, at the top at the arrival of the Campo Imperatore cable car.
The race HQ will be in the hamlet of Assergi, Fonte Cerreto. The organisers add that this is ‘easy to reach just a few kilometres from the A24 motorway exit of Assergi, but at the same time immersed in nature with incredibly beautiful views.’
Registration is now open. Some discounts are available for early-bird registration.
