The Athlete’s Gut by Dr Patrick Wilson is positioned as an informative guide for endurance athletes to explore the digestive system and troubleshoot gut-related issues.
‘Combining the latest research on exercise and the gut with humorous descriptions and relatable stories, Dr Wilson makes the often-complicated gastrointestinal system simple with his deep dive into an area most athletes have trouble with.’
A release from the book’s publisher, VeloPress, notes… ‘The majority of endurance athletes suffer from some kind of gut distress during training and competition. Symptoms like nausea, cramping, bloating, side stitches, and the need to defecate can negatively impact an athlete’s performance. Why are gut problems so common during exercise? And what can athletes do to prevent and manage gut symptoms that occur during sport?’
‘The Athlete’s Gut uncovers the triggers to GI issues so that athletes can navigate the world of nutrition and sport—and achieve their highest athletic goals.’
