New webinar series on what’s next for sports nutrition post-coronavirus

The European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance (ESSNA), ‘the trade association representing the responsible voice of the sports nutrition industry through its 40+ members’, kicks off its first webinar series on Thursday 28th May. The first episode looks at how the COVID-19 global pandemic has impacted the US and the European sports nutrition markets comparatively.

ESSNA adds that, as “Europe’s voice for sports nutrition the new webinar series brings together international panels of experts to facilitate industry debate around the challenges and the way forward for the sports nutrition industry in the aftermath of the current global pandemic.’

These webinars are part of ESSNA’s refreshed strategy to support the entire industry’s recovery from the Covid-19 fallout. Each webinar will feature expert speakers from the industry and political institutions across Europe and the rest of the world, who will come together to discuss a variety of topics of relevance for the sector.

Future episodes will touch upon, amongst others, the recovery strategy for the sector, opportunities and challenges for the sports nutrition industry in times of coronavirus, non-compliance and product contamination and changes in consumer behaviours.

To further support the sector on how to navigate the ongoing pandemic and to recover from it, ESSNA will also host a dedicated crisis communications webinar, specifically targeted at its members. This episode will be designed to act as a tool for those struggling to deal with the communication implications of the current crisis but also for those who would like to gain a better understanding of how to protect their businesses at all stages of crises.

Dr Adam Carey, Chair of ESSNA, said “Our main aim here is to ensure that the voice of the sports nutrition industry is loud and clear. The current global pandemic has quite severely impacted our sector and ESSNA is in the front line to support businesses recovering from this.

“With this webinar series, in which we hope to delve into a variety of themes, we want to shed light and trigger discussions on what’s coming next and how the sports nutrition industry can continue to thrive in the aftermath of this crisis.”

He continued, “With different guest speakers for each episode bringing in their expertise and knowledge, this webinar series promises to be a great source of information and added value for anyone interested in sports nutrition and its future.”

The first episode will be on ‘EU vs US sports nutrition markets: How has COVID-19 impacted the sports nutrition market on both sides of the pond and how to restart?’ It will air next Thursday, 28th May from 14:00 BST / 15:00 CET.

Guest speakers include Claudia Mucciardi, Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs – EMEA at Glanbia Performance Nutrition; Ben Smart, Senior Vice President of Product Operations & Compliance at Nutrabolt and Gary Roethenbaugh, Managing Director of MultiSport Research.
