Noting that it is ‘delighted that swim, bike, run events and activity can resume in England’, national governing body British Triathlon has created detailed event permitting requirements.
These permitting requirements are designed to guide organisers and facilities in running activities within government guidelines, and with social distancing and hygiene measures in place.
Event organisers in England can apply to British Triathlon for a permit; and permitted events can take place from July 25. Event organisers of all sizes will be required to demonstrate that they are able to deliver their event in a Covid-19 secure manner.
From July 18, clubs and coaches can organise activities for more than six people outdoors in England, provided they do so in a Covid-19 secure manner. Comprehensive guidance is available on the British Triathlon website for clubs and coaches.
Also from July 18, Welsh clubs and coaches can organise activities for up to 30 people so long as they do so in a Covid-19 secure manner. Support and guidance for clubs and coaches in Wales can be found online.
Events in Scotland and Wales are not currently able to take place, but both home nations continue to work with their respective governments to ensure a safe return to activity as soon as conditions allow.
Andy Salmon, Chief Executive of British Triathlon said “I am delighted that we are able to resume swim, bike, run activity in England over the coming weeks and look forward to supporting clubs and event organisers to deliver safe and exciting events.
“We hope to see a similar relaxation of restrictions in Scotland and Wales in the near future.”
British Triathlon has created detailed guidance information. This aims to ensure that athletes have a safe and easy return to competition and training in a Covid-19 secure manner.
