Last week, ROUVY, in partnership with IRONMAN, released the virtual 112-mile IRONMAN World Championship bike course. The new virtual route was presented as part of the IRONMAN VR World Championship Celebration week.
The IRONMAN VR World Championship Celebration week saw the first virtual full-distance IRONMAN triathlon, IRONMAN VR27, hosted on the IRONMAN Virtual Club. ROUVY notes that ‘the iconic bike route is now officially available for augmented training and racing.’
The route, situated along the western and northern coast of the Island of Hawai`i, is designed to test the world’s top triathletes. Riders exit the Kailua-Kona pier area heading up Palani Road and then loop around and through Kailua-Kona for the first 10 miles before heading out on the Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway and through the legendary lava fields towards Hawi.
Following a gradual climb, Hawi marks the turnaround point, from which athletes ride back in the opposite direction, battling the famous winds, to the finish at transition two in Kailua-Kona.
ROUVY CEO Petr Samek, said “The IRONMAN World Championship is the pinnacle event in the world of endurance sports. So, it is so exciting to give every athlete the possibility to experience the course and compare themselves to top IRONMAN athletes.
“We are happy to connect triathletes all over the world. Now literally everyone can try the full-distance IRONMAN World Championship course from their home, and experience the atmosphere of the most famous IRONMAN race.”
