The recent Super League Triathlon (SLT) virtual-meets-real-world event, the SLT Arena Games, took place on August 23. The pro athlete event secured a number of international broadcast contracts, and the SLT team has released some numbers that indicate a large reach for the unique event format.
Exact audience figures are still being calculated. In the meantime, SLT has shared a few snippets:
- Social – 3.6 million total video views across the campaign
- 19 million impressions across social
- 600,000 live video views across SLT’s YouTube and Facebook channels
- 100 hours of broadcast across 162 territories around the world
The SLT Arena Games also had extensive media coverage across endemic and non-endemic media and a high level of athlete engagement. Coverage was via a diverse range of media properties, including: the Daily Telegraph, Marca, AS, Eurosport, DC Rainmaker and 220 Triathlon.

In a first for the sport, the SLT Arena Games was an amalgamation of real life and virtual racing. The aim was to provide an ‘immersive viewing experience that allowed fans to get up close and personal with the best triathletes in the world; and enjoy live power, speed and heart rate data from Zwift.’
Developed as part of a new partnership between Super League Triathlon and Zwift, the SLT Arena Games made its debut in the city of Rotterdam, Netherlands, on August 23.
