TV eye on Giro d’Italia 2020

The official broadcast images of the 103rd edition of the Giro d’Italia, produced live by the host broadcaster RAI for four and a half hours each day, will be distributed in 185 countries around the world, thanks to 20 different television networks.

In Italy
As with the previous edition of the Corsa Rosa, RAI will broadcast every day of the race to the Italian public without interruption across various channels.

Each day’s TV coverage will begin with ‘Villaggio di Partenza’ (‘Village of Departure’) on Rai Sport + HD, a program that will include the riders signing in, the pre-race interviews and the start of the stage. At 14:00 CET ‘Preview Giro’, always on the same channel, will show the first live images from the race.

The most awaited part of the programming, is scheduled on Rai 2, with ‘Giro in Diretta’ (‘Giro Live’) until 15:15 and ‘Giro all’Arrivo’ immediately following, with the last KMs of each stage up to the finish line set for 16:30. Immediately after the race, the traditional post-race analysis follows, generally lasting one hour, on the same TV channel.

Finally, on Rai Sport + HD, ‘Tgiro’, starting at 20:00, will offer a half-hour programme with a summary of the stage as well as highlights and interviews; while ‘Giro Notte’, a 60-minute summary of the day with original commentary, is scheduled at 00:15.

Around the world
In Italy the Corsa Rosa can also be followed on Eurosport, which, thanks to its commentary in 21 different languages, will broadcast the various stages live throughout Europe, with the exception of France – where the 21 stages of the Giro will be broadcast live and exclusively by La Chaine L’Equipe.

There is free-to-air coverage of the event by RSI in the Canton of Ticino, by EITB in the Basque Country and by S4C in Wales.

American and Canadian fans of the Giro will be able to choose between the two OTT platforms Fubo.TV and Flobikes.com, which will offer their subscribers all the stages live. The ESPN network will broadcast the Corsa Rosa in Brazil, the rest of South America and the Caribbean.

In Colombia, free-to-air live broadcasts will be by Caracol TV. Live broadcasts will also be provided by TUDN in Mexico & Central America.

In South Africa, the second Grand Tour of this season will be offered on Supersport’s channels, while in Australia and South-East Asia the various stages will be broadcast live on the screens of Eurosport Asia Pacific and GCN; and the latter will be the reference platform also for fans in Japan.

The Corsa Rosa will also be broadcast live in the Middle East and North Africa on the screens of Abu Dhabi Sports. New Zealand fans will be able to tune in to Sky Sports, while all stages in China will be available thanks to Zhibo TV.

On the digital platform of the event (www.giroditalia.it and its official app) and on social media (YouTube, Dailymotion, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) daily highlights of the race, animated routes of each stage, interviews with riders and additional content will be shot and aired every day in the start and arrival areas.

Images of the race will also be distributed globally by news agencies SNTV, Thomson Reuters and Perform and by the channel Sport 24.
