Spotlight on… Head Start podcast

Head Start is a podcast for race directors and anyone involved in the business of putting on races. Launched in April 2021, the podcast is produced by Race Directors HQ (RDHQ), an online resource platform and community network for race directors and race management professionals.

According to RDHQ… ‘It doesn’t matter where you’re based or how many year’s experience you have, or whether you’re putting on a running race, a triathlon, an obstacle race or whatever – if you’ve got an interest in planning, organizing and growing endurance events, this is the podcast for you.’

The focus of the podcast is twofold:

  • Showcasing the latest innovations hitting the mass-participation endurance events industry, and
  • Bringing tips and actionable advice from industry experts to help race directors improve their races.

Some industry innovations hosted on the podcast include:

  • Trees not Tees – with Head of Partnerships, Chris Zair
  • Ooho (the edible water/sports drink sachets used in the London Marathon) – with CFO/COO Lise Honsinger

Other past guests have included:

RDHQ Editor and Head Start podcast host, Panos Gonos, said “I think you’re either a podcast person or, frankly, you haven’t tried podcasts yet!

“It’s such a great, fun way to get those expert tips on a topic that are going to help you improve your event, while you’re on your morning run or training session. We’ve had some amazing feedback so far from race directors, and we are 100% committed in making Head Start the absolute best podcast for our industry and its people.”
