Atomik Carbon unveils ALGR hand built aluminium gravel wheelsets

Atomik Carbon has unveiled its ALGR series of hand built aluminium wheelsets for gravel bikes. The Atomik ALGR29 is positioned as a premium aluminium gravel rim available in 700c and 650b options as rim-only or as complete wheelsets built around Industry Nine 1/1 hubs with Sapim D-Light spokes.

Atomik’s popular BERD Ultimate build will also be available as an optional upgrade. Starting at US$699.99 for a complete wheelset, the Atomik ALGR29 is claimed to be the only hand built gravel wheel laced to American-made hubs at its price point.

Designed to provide premium performance and value for modern gravel riding, the ALGR is crafted from 6066-T6 aluminium for an optimal strength-to-weight ratio. Atomik adds that the ALGR29 is engineered to offer a more vertically compliant ride, making it the rim of choice for gravel riders who prioritize comfort.

Both 700c and 650b versions feature a 29mm outer diameter, and 24.5mm inner diameter to accommodate the most popular gravel tyres. All Atomik rims come tubeless ready.

“Based on the success of our aluminium mountain bike wheels, we decided to make that same value and performance available to gravel riders,” said Atomik Carbon co-owner and founder Wayne Lee. “The ALGR29 is a no-nonsense premium gravel wheel without the premium price tag.”

Like its aluminium mountain bike wheels, Atomik is offering a Carbon Upgrade Program for the ALGR29 complete wheelset. If within two years from the time of purchase, the original owner chooses to upgrade to one of Atomik’s carbon gravel rim offerings, Atomik will rebuild the wheel using existing hubs, new spokes and nipples, all labour and return shipping — at no cost to the customer with the purchase of carbon rims.

“Look at the ALGR29 as a lower cost of admission to the premium wheel market,” added Lee. “When someone is ready to take the next step and go carbon, we want to make that as easy as possible.”
