National governing body AusCycling has announced a new partnership with Busby, the UK-based sports tech company that has created an app to help make cycling feel safer.
“For many years in Australia, bikes have significantly outsold cars,” said James Duffy, Co-Founder and Operations Director at Busby. “That’s a powerful indication that the nation is choosing active transport wherever possible and a nod to the great work being done by AusCycling,
“At Busby, we’re incredibly pleased to have the opportunity to play a part in that journey, partnering with Australia’s national cycling body and endeavouring to make the country’s cyclists safer than ever before using technology.”
To celebrate this new partnership AusCycling members will be able to purchase the Busby premium app at a discounted rate. This offer will be available via member newsletters.

The Busby app detects when riders have a crash and automatically alerts emergency contacts. This can provide cyclists with timely medical assistance if required but also peace of mind for loved ones at home.
There are additional features included in the Busby app such as Flare, which signals other riders when stranded and needing assistance with punctures or other mechanical problems.
An important component of the new partnership is a monthly report that AusCycling will receive which identifies high incident areas. These reports will be shared with the riding community throughout the year.
Busby also offers its own internal benefits program which rewards riders with Sweatcoins that can be exchanged for lifestyle products, gift cards and digital subscriptions among other products.
Integration with Strava app is a feature that is currently being explored by the Busby development team and is expected to be available shortly.
