The Integrity Homes Challenge Wanaka Triathlon Festival in New Zealand’s Southern Alps has added the earSHOTS Cross Triathlon to its line-up. The new race aims to make the most of the MTB trails at the event’s Bike Glendhu venue.
Challenge Wanaka’s newest off-road event is scheduled to take place on February 19, 2022.
The earSHOTS Challenge Wanaka Cross Triathlon utilises the waters of Glendhu Bay for a one lap swim leg of 1500m. The bike course then takes athletes for two laps through the Bike Glendhu bike park, tackling some grade 4 MTB tracks, totalling 32km. The 10.5km trail run heads through more of the Bike Glendhu tracks.
The event organisers noted that… ‘the event is for intermediate (grade 4) and more competent riders only, with plenty of intermediate climbs and descents, making for a challenging, but breath-taking course.’
