COROS launches seasonal COROS VERTIX variant – Desert Sol

COROS Wearables, the maker of premium endurance sports wearables, has announced the introduction of a new seasonal, limited edition colour variant – Desert Sol – for its award winning COROS VERTIX Premium GPS Adventure Watch.

Desert Sol is inspired by the sun-soaked desert towers of Southern Utah – represented in the burnt orange/amber nylon watch band, and the yellow bezel engravings. The season model also features a special emblem on the rear of the watch… ‘created to evoke a renewed spirit as we transition from a challenging 2020 into a hopeful 2021.’

With a fresh start to the new year, the COROS VERTIX Desert Sol will come with a complementary edition of ‘Training for the Uphill Athlete’, co-authored by COROS pro athlete and world-renowned Alpinist and Coach, Steve House.

The book is available in English, as well as French, German and Polish through local international distributors. ‘Training for the Uphill Athlete’ is considered a go-to resource for all mountain sports from trail running to ski mountaineering to climbing. According to COROS, it is ‘the perfect guide to help create your 2021 training plan.’

Firmware update
Alongside the new Desert Sol watch, COROS is also announcing a product firmware update for all watch models:

  • The update adds 0.01s to Run, Track Run, Bike, Pool Swim and Rowing. For example, when doing intervals, based on distance – breaking down the time to the hundredth of a second is important to differentiate a km in 3:00.01 from 2:59.99 for instance.
  • The update adds a checkpoint feature that allows users to record a checkpoint before, or during the outdoor workout under navigation.
  • Workout program now supports track run.
  • App workout details now include weather info: temperature, humidity, and wind.
  • New map layer options in the app from Mapbox: outdoor terrain, winter, and dark.

COROS VERTIX Desert Sol:

  • Limited edition with only 550 units available worldwide
  • Translucent fibre watch body, showcasing the watch’s innerworkings
  • Ultra-light nylon watch band with hook and loop closure
  • 60 hours of Battery Life in Full GPS mode, 150 hours of battery life in UltraMax mode
  • Blood oxygen saturation readings and altitude advisory feature via SpO2 sensor

“As we look to put 2020 in the rearview mirror, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the challenges they faced and the lessons learned that they will take with them into the year ahead,” said Lewis Wu CEO of COROS.

“Desert Sol was created to serve as a reminder to the athlete, every time that they look down at their watch that they are stronger than their greatest obstacle. The futuristic design along with unique emblem keep the athlete looking forward.”

COROS VERTIX Desert Sol went on sale on Tuesday January 12th with a suggested retail price of US$599.99 and will be available on COROS.com and other key retailers around the world. As part of the launch of the new variant, COROS will be hosting an Instagram Live with Steve House on Wednesday January 13th at 13:00 EST, which you can be joined via its Instagram page – @corosglobal.
