USA Cycling and TeachAids, a nonprofit social enterprise behind the CrashCourse concussion education technology, have announced a new partnership.
‘USA Cycling is excited to have TeachAids as an educational resource for the sport of cycling. From enthusiasts to elite athletes and staff, USA Cycling encourages its members to stay up-to-date on the latest research as the conversations continue around concussions.’
TeachAids creates technology to solve problems in health education around the world. Its products are designed with input from a team of academics, researchers, doctors and athletes.
TeachAids has developed CrashCourse, a suite of interactive products focused on the prevention and treatment of concussions and related mental health issues. This education has been designed to teach athletes, parents and coaches about concussions throughout the cycling world, from recreational cycling to school and club programs. through to competitive cycling at all levels.
“Concussions are far too common in recreational and competitive cycling” said Rob DeMartini, President & Chief Executive Officer of USA Cycling. “It is critical cyclists understand the signs and symptoms of a concussion, and how to respond if an injury has been sustained.
“In our continuing efforts to champion positive health and safety, USA Cycling will be including the outstanding CrashCourse content on our website to help educate our larger community.”
In the past couple years, USA Cycling collaborated with TeachAids to launch two concussion education programs.
First was the Brain Fly-Through, which uses technology from Stanford University’s Neurosurgical Simulation and Virtual Reality Center to conceptualize an otherwise ‘invisible’ injury.
The second was the Concussion Story Wall, an interactive database featuring more than 4,000 video stories describing personal concussion experiences.
With the success of the previous collaborations and launch of concussion education products, USA Cycling will work with TeachAids to produce a new multi-sport curriculum. They will be joining 21 other US Olympic and Paralympic Committee’s National Sports Governing Bodies in this education effort.

The CrashCourse curriculum will be instituted throughout USA Cycling’s programs nationwide across the USA starting immediately via its website.
