The Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series returned to the US capital on Saturday, November 13. The event gave participants views of the monuments in the district such as the White House, the Capitol Building and the Lincoln Memorial.
Over 12,000 registered participants took on the ninth edition of the United Airlines Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Washington DC, a musically-themed running event. In the half marathon, Mo’ath Alkhawaldeh (Washington, D.C., representing Jordan) and Sarah Bishop (Fairfax, VA) were crowned winners with finishing times of 1:07:57 and 1:20:42 respectfully.










Half marathon participants took off down the National Mall, before passing through downtown and ending in a finish at RFK Stadium. Participants in the 5K race took off from RFK Stadium on C Street SE running down North Carolina Ave, and up 13th Street before returning to the finish at RFK Stadium.
Several local bands, including Enviro Drum, Ocho de Bastos, Prettier in Person, BATALIA and School of Rock performed live on band stages along the route interspersed with crowd support. The party wasn’t only on course – 7 Deadlies closed out the show as the Encore Entertainment at the Armory Mall just outside RFK Stadium.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series will return to Washington DC on November 11, 2022.
