Italian granfondo La Fausto Coppi Officine Mattio is launching a crowdfunding campaign in support of the project ‘Salviamo le strade di montagna’ (“Save the mountain routes”).
The aim of the initiative is to increase the economic sustainability of organizations in the province of Cuneo, in the north-west of Italy, and enhance the sense of participation from local citizens.
This year’s La Fausto Coppi Officine Mattio is scheduled to take place on June 27th. The event’s organisers have a goal to reach a fundraising target of at least €5,000. The amount collected will be allocated to the mountain routes on which the international cycling race takes place, whose road surfaces, in many sections, are compromised by frost, wear and neglect.

Promoted by Fondazione CRC Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo, in collaboration with Rete del Dono, the crowdfunding campaign will see all funds raised matched by Fondazione CRC.
The granfondo La Fausto Coppi Officine Mattio’s has its highest peak, Colle Fauniera, at 2481m. It crosses the Varaita, Grana, Stura and Gesso valleys, allowing enthusiasts to admire alpine sceneries.
‘Thousands of outdoor fans, not only on their bikes, are passing through the trails and roads of the granfondo every year, so any help, bigger or smaller, will be super welcome and will be useful to restore a heritage that is not only for cyclists, but for all mountain lovers.’
