Lumen metabolism tracker releases new Apple Watch app integration

Metabolism measurement platform Lumen is launching… ‘the only app on the Apple Watch store to measure and track your metabolism.’

In an initial launch, Apple Watch users will be able to unlock key features taken from the mobile Lumen app and receive metabolic health and tracking results on their wrist.

The integration with Apple follows an ongoing tie-up between Lumen and Garmin.

The metabolism specialist notes that… ‘Over 100 million people own an Apple Watch across the globe, as wearables pave the way to personalised tracking in the wellness and fitness sphere. The Lumen Apple Watch app is the gateway to further personalised nutrition in real-time when it matters most throughout the day.’

Key features of the app enable users to get their metabolism measurement results on their watch, log their food, and track their nutritional or fitness progress throughout the day.

“The Lumen Apple Watch app is the key to enhance and personalise the user experience of measuring and tracking their metabolism from the comfort of their wrist and in a way that seamlessly integrates into daily life,” said CTO and co-founder of Lumen, Avi Smila.

“Our goal is to make you healthier every day and anywhere so that you understand what to eat when it matters, and how to fuel up for your workout in real time.”

The Lumen device measures metabolism through the CO2 in the breath. The company notes that, in under a minute, users can understand on a scale from 1 to 5 whether they’re burning fats or carbs as a fuel source.

The Lumen Apple Watch app will display the scale after measurements are taken and recorded on the mobile app. Users will be able to track their fuel levels on the app such as before and after meals or workouts to see the impact on their metabolism.

Lumen is billed as the first personalised nutrition guide based on metabolism. It provides users with recommended carb servings, meal plans and macros for the day. This helps users understand ‘how to feed your body according to what it’s burning for fuel.’

Users can track carb consumption through the Apple Watch app and understand if they are on a low or high carb day to eat the right amount of macros at every meal.

Lumen also remembers what workouts have ben scheduled for the day and reminds the user to measure metabolism to see if they need to fuel up before a workout or if they have enough carb stores to perform at their best.

Real-time notifications help to measure the impact of a workout… ‘and see if you were able to reach fat burn.’
