The Sandridge 10k in South East England has chosen to use njuko’s ‘royo’ platform for a hybrid virtual event on Sunday 12th September, 2021.
The royo, or ‘race on your own’ offering from njuko, has been used by events such as RunAsOne Singapore, Geneva 2.0K, SainteLyon and others. It is now hitting the UK.
Taking on a ‘COVID proof’ new look, the Sandridge 10K event will see runners taking on a GPS tracked audio guided route through the countryside surrounding Sandridge. In line with government guidelines on race day, runners will be required to sign up to allocated staggered start times ahead of the event. Medals will be awarded on completion.
Matt Trevett from njuko said “royo (race on your own) has been used in Geneva, Singapore, Lyon and now we are happy to introduce it to the UK market with the Sandridge 10K amongst other events.
“At the start of the pandemic, we already had tools available to handle virtual races; so we turned our minds to something longer lasting and modular that we could continually adapt in the coming years – royo was our answer.”
He continued “Mid-sized events for good causes are a pleasure to work with; and we are delighted that the Sandridge team are keen to use our app and have already started designing their courses for September, we might even have to run it ourselves!”
A Sandridge 10K spokesperson said “We are really thankful for the support njuko have given us and we were surprised at how easy their course creator, GPS tracking and audio adding tools were to help us build this route – by no means are we tech minded but anyone can upload a GPX, add checkpoints and it suits our multi terrain route perfectly.
“There is no need for user accounts, which makes things nice and simple for our runners to access after downloading the royo app.”
njuko is a leading endurance registration platform dedicated to sports events such as running, cycling, triathlon etc. The company is on the verge of releasing its njuko II platform this year and royo is a first glimpse into some of the modular functionality and customizability that is in the pipeline for all of its event clients.
In recent weeks royo has been developed to handle hybrid swim events and triathlons. The platform can be used by any event organizer that takes registrations through njuko for their event. The company adds, ‘There are no set up fees, contracts, fixed costs, just a per entry amount in pence and you are good to go.’
‘Being a non-account based platform means that data is secure, njuko does nothing with the entries to your events and with one booking reference per course you can have as many courses as you like, and each entrant can login with ease to the one they are about to do. And the entry money flows directly to the organizer, there are no holds because of chargeback risks.’
