The Outdoor Swimmer Henley Swim Festival is looking to welcome over 1,200 outdoor swimmers to the event in South East England on July 11th, with many taking part in their first open water swimming event. A new partnership with coaching specialist Second Nature Swimming looks to offer enhanced support for those who are new to open water swimming.
With the lockdown helping to drive an increase in open water swimming interest, Henley Swim and Second Nature Swimming want to help offer this audience a ‘nurturing first time open water swim event experience.’
The partnership will see Second Nature Swimming offering guidance pre-event and on event day. The company’s retail area at the event will welcome beginners for last minute advice and confidence building, in addition to tips for experienced swimmers. Second Nature will also be providing swim buddies, socially distanced in the water, if swimmers feel that would help them complete their distance.
Katalina Smalley, Founder of Second Nature Swimming, said “We, like many, have adapted our business during lockdown to extend our offering from in pool swim teaching to outdoor swimming and special sessions by the sea.
“It’s been exhilarating to see people experience open water swimming for the first time and great to help arm them with the appropriate safety advice and confidence. Henley Swim events are well run and a nurturing experience already, but we hope we can help add even more value to the beginner swimmers at the event.”
The Outdoor Swimmer Henley Swim Festival offers multiple distances during the day, accommodating children aged 9 upwards, including a 200m swim (one adult can accompany the child for free), half mile, one mile and 4-mile challenge.
This year the event will also host an exclusive challenge to see how many miles can be completed in 6 hours. With camping the night before and live music, a food and event village full of retailers it offers something for everyone. The large event village and stretch of the river also allows for a covid friendly environment.
