Recovery specialist Therabody has expanded into a new area by launching RecoveryAir, a clinical pneumatic compression technology product offering.
RecoveryAir is billed as a first of its kind medical-grade compression device. According to Therabody it is scientifically-validated to reduce muscle fatigue, soreness, swelling, inflammation, and increase overall circulation.
‘The technology provides a solution for athletes, workers who stand on their feet all day or sit for long periods of time, travellers, post-operation and rehab patients, and anyone wanting to feel better, naturally. It is a passive treatment – allowing you to sit, read, watch tv, and relax while the technology does the work.’
Targeting the lower body, RecoveryAir uses controlled pressure to add compression. Therabody notes that this promotes the health of the circulatory system, helps promote blood flow, and circulation back to the heart. The pressure is then released, allowing blood flow back to the limb. RecoveryAir’s cycle time from the start of compression to release is claimed to be two times faster than any other product on the market.
There are two versions being released by Therabody:
- RecoveryAir (£599) – advanced compression, with set treatment programs
- RecoveryAir PRO (£1129) – personalized pneumatic compression programs with connectivity to the Therabody app
In November 2020, Therabody acquired RP Sports and its clinical technology product line, RecoveryPump. Therabody has now rebranded the RP offering as RecoveryAir.
