Southern California’s Coachella Valley region is gearing up for the third edition of the Trainual IRONMAN 70.3 Indian Wells-La Quinta triathlon.
Trainual, the Official Business Training Software for race volunteers, will also serve as the title partner for the event. The 2021 Trainual IRONMAN 70.3 Indian Wells-La Quinta triathlon is scheduled for Sunday, December 5.
As IRONMAN’s official business training software, Trainual will help to streamline and improve volunteer operations by providing a consistent training experience for all race day volunteers.
With nearly 70 North America events under the IRONMAN brand, more than 100,000 volunteers need to be trained each year. Now, volunteers will have access to all their training thanks to Trainual before the event, to get race day ready.
“We’re excited to be returning to beautiful Southern California and the Indian Wells, La Quinta region,” said Paul Huddle, Regional Director for The IRONMAN Group.
“We’re also thrilled to have Trainual come on board and support this fantastic event. Their software and services have streamlined the volunteer operations for this event by providing an efficient training service for the event volunteers. We are looking forward to welcoming our athletes and support crews to the region for this late-season race.”
Chris Ronzio, Founder and CEO of Trainual, said “Training for my first IRONMAN race took a lot of time and effort, and the efforts behind the scenes to put those events on are just as complex. So, it’s incredible to see these two brands unite.
“Trainual has been proud to help train IRONMAN & IRONMAN 70.3 race volunteers across North America for nearly a year, as in-person events face new challenges due to the pandemic. It’s going to be a special moment to have our software rolled out at our title event!”
The Trainual IRONMAN 70.3 Indian Wells-La Quinta course is lined with palm trees and nestled just beneath the towering Santa Rosa Mountains as well as lake views throughout Indian Wells and La Quinta.
Athletes will embark on their 70.3-mile journey beginning with a 1.2-mile swim followed by a 56-mile bike and will cap it off with a 13.1-mile run through the Coachella Valley.
The swim will take place in the clear waters of Lake Cahuilla. The one-loop bike course offers a flat and fast experience across county roads, the Thermal Raceway, the City of La Quinta and the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens.
The day ends with a run through the Indian Wells Golf Resort and finish line at the Tennis Gardens.
In addition, a number of top triathletes, including Lionel Sanders, (CAN), Justin Metzler (USA), Tamara Jewett (CAN), Sarah Svensk (SWE), and Chelsea Sodaro (USA) are scheduled to compete for a total professional prize purse of US$50,000.
The Trainual IRONMAN 70.3 Indian Wells-La Quinta triathlon will offer qualifying slots to the 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship being held in St George, Utah.
