The Richmond RUNFEST and timeoutdoors Kew The Run events in southern England have confirmed Alzheimer’s Society as their charity of the year for 2022.
The inaugural Kew The Run will take place on the 10-11 April. Richmond RUNFEST is set for 10-11 September.
“Alzheimer’s Society is delighted to return as 2022 Charity of the Year for RUNFEST events after a hugely successful partnership in 2016,” said Jade Smith, Senior Events Fundraising Manager at Alzheimer’s Society.
“We hope that this fantastic collaboration will inspire the Richmond community to join the movement to end dementia. By joining our team, runners will be raising funds to beat dementia through research, and provide support for the 850,000 people currently living with dementia in the UK so that nobody faces a diagnosis alone.”
Tom Bedford, RUNFEST Race Director, said “We are delighted to welcome Alzheimer’s Society as our charity of the year 2022. This is an exciting year as we launched our brand new Kew Gardens 10K and Half Marathon which is on target to welcome 5,500 runners.
“We also want to invite as many people as possible to celebrate our 10th anniversary at the Richmond RUNFEST on 10th and 11th September.”
Alzheimer’s Society notes that, by 2025, there will be over 1 million people with dementia in the UK. Money raised from the two Kew Gardens hosted events will raise funds towards dementia research and offer support to those who need it most.
