Having been postponed due to a heatwave in July, on August 21, the 14th annual Columbia Threadneedle Investments Boston Triathlon returned to Carson Beach in South Boston.
This year’s USA Triathlon-sanctioned event drew thousands of competitors including U.S. para-athletes, and featured both an Olympic distance and a sprint distance race, along with the Boston Corporate Cup Competition and the annual Boston Tri Club Championship.
Aaronn Gu of Brookline, MA, captured the title of top male athlete in the Olympic Distance race and Emily Tato of Somerville, MA triumphed as the top female athlete. In the Sprint Distance race, Mohamad Alsabbagh of Somerville captured the title of top male athlete in the race and Reia Tong of New York, NY triumphed as the top female athlete.
The winner of the Corporate Cup was General Electric, and the winner of the Tri Club Champions was Full Throttle.
“The Columbia Threadneedle Investments Boston Triathlon has become a signature summer event for the city, drawing high-level athletes and beginners alike to compete in a world-class event,” said Michael O’Neil, President of the Boston Triathlon.
