More than 2,000 triathletes – comprised of professional female athletes and female & male age group athletes – celebrated the fifth edition of the IRONMAN European Championship Hamburg.
IRONMAN Hamburg in Germany was originally added to the IRONMAN event schedule in 2017, and hosted the M-Dot European Championship race this year.
The event, on June 5th saw Laura Philipp (GER) become crowned IRONMAN European Champion, with the fastest time a woman has ever completed a full distance IRONMAN triathlon race, just one week after winning IRONMAN 70.3 Kraichgau powered by KraichgauEnergie.
“After taking a short break from testing positive for Covid19 at the IRONMAN World Championship, the IRONMAN 70.3 Kraichgau powered by KraichgauEnergie was my test race last week,” said Laura Philipp after the race.
“After last week’s victory, I thought that I could do a full distance, but I never expected that the race could be so fast. It was a great atmosphere on the course, the spectators were incredible and literally carried me to the finish.”
