The 2022 ÖTILLÖ Swimrun season got under way on May 21st on the island of Utö in the Stockholm archipelago. The team at ÖTILLÖ notes that this year’s opening World Series event saw athletes face difficult weather conditions.

At ÖTILLÖ World Series Utö, strong winds, an air temperature of around 8°C (46°F) and about 8°C in the water saw many racers having to dig deep.

‘The front pack raced hard over 20 swim sections and some technical trail running. When the technical trail running sections started the field broke apart. Towards the end it was all about managing the cold and holding it together to the finish line.’
