After launching its equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube this week, British performance eyewear brand SunGod sped past its £1 million funding goal to achieve a total of £3 million. The company closed its raise in 79 minutes, 200% overfunded.
SunGod welcomed 1,365 new investors to its community as part of the 2022 Vision Raise. Investors each bought into the brand, with stakes funding starting at £25.
Founder and co-CEO Ali Watkiss said “We’ve worked hard to build a really strong community of customers, ambassadors and athletes who we know are highly engaged, but seeing these people put their money into our 2022 Vision Raise means so much more.
“It’s proof that our community genuinely believes in what we’re doing: our mission, our products, and our way of doing business. We can’t wait to put their investment to good use through our 6-point plan – the hard work continues and the next exciting chapter starts now.”
For its next phase, SunGod noted that it has set out a number of objectives…
- Scale up presence in the UK, and expand into the US market
- Invest in product innovation, plus launch an option for prescription sunglasses
- Land bigger and better partnerships to reach new audiences
- Continue to invest in sustainability and launch a new charity arm, the SunGod Foundation
- Attract the best talent in the industry to continue driving excellence
- Open SunGod Basecamp London in 2024, following launch of flagship store in Verbier
